Head Coach Brenda Frese

Opening Statement:

"Obviously a nice exhibition game for us to put on the uniform, kind of get rid of those nerves. We were able to really lock in and get comfortable and confident. I liked the way we shared the basketball on the offensive end, I saw a lot of great things from us on both ends of the floor. Also some things we need to work on for when we play a division one opponent. Good start for the first game."

On the defensive performance:

"I thought it was solid. It looks like where you'd be in November for a first exhibition game. Our ball pressure and some of that has to improve. People weren't challenged that much off of the bounce. Seeing some takeovers from where we were in practice is a positive thing."

On the chemistry of the starting lineup:

"I thought they meshed well. I thought they came out and even though you could sense a few nerves, I thought they played hard. This team plays selflessly. I thought they did a good job together."

On the point guard play

"I thought they both did a tremendous job taking control of the game. They both bring different elements which is awesome because against different teams it's going to call for different things. They're both so talented. When you talk about valuing the basketball and valuing possessions, we obviously have a lot of weapons so to get shots at the basket and not turn the ball over is key."

Senior Guard Chloe Pavlech

On taking care of the ball

"[Taking care of the ball] is definitely a big focus, especially for me, because I think that's something I bring to the table -- being able to take care of the ball."

Freshman Forward Kiah Gillespie

On her first college game

"I was a little nervous--first college game. Coach told me to just go out and play basketball and just play how I know how to play, so I felt more comfortable after that."
