The No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team (13-0, 2-0 B1G) looks to remain undefeated as the Terrapins travel to No. 14 Ohio State (10-4, 1-1) Sunday. Opening draw is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.

  • The Terrapins scored 14 second-half goals after going down 6-4 at halftime. Megan Whittle led the team with six scores and Kelly McPartland added five goals. Kristen Lamon recorded a hat trick while Taylor Cummings and Zoe Stukenberg each had a pair of goals.
  • The Terps held a 35-17 advantage in shots, including a 26-5 lead in the second half. Maryland held a 14-11 advantage in ground balls and an 18-12 lead in draw controls.

Cummings, douty earn b1g weekly honors

  • Taylor Cummings was named the Offensive Player of the Week after totaling nine goals and six assists in two games last week. She scored four times and added five assists against Georgetown while also leading the game with five ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers. The junior midfielder netted five goals and notched an assist against Rutgers. She scored a hat trick in the first seven minutes of the game and added four ground balls and four draw controls.
  • Megan Douty earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading a Terrapin defense that held the Hoyas and Scarlet Knights to eight total goals. She recorded three ground balls and caused two turnovers against Georgetown and picked up two ground balls and two caused turnovers versus Rutgers.
  • This is the third straight week Cummings has earned conference Offensive Player of the Week honors and the fourth time overall. This is Douty’s second Defensive Player of the Week nod, and the sixth time a Terp has earned the honor.

fitzpatrick makes statement with terps

  • A transfer from Lehigh, redshirt senior Alex Fitzpatrick has led the Terps in goal. Fitzpatrick has started all 13 games and has played 658 minutes in the cage.
  • Fitzpatrick boasts a 6.02 goals-against average and .515 save percentage. Her GAA is good for fifth in the nation and first in the conference, while her save percentage is ranked sixth in the NCAA and first in the Big Ten.
  • Fitzpatrick allowed a season-low two goals against Towson, and kept the Tigers off the board completely in the second half. She also recorded a season-best 10 saves against Towson.

  • Freshman Megan Whittle has made an immediate impact for the Terps in her first season.
  • Whittle has scored 46 goals in 13 games, which ranks first on the team. It also puts her at fifth in the nation in total goals and sixth in goals per game.
  • Whittle was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List in March. She is the only freshman on the prestigious list.
  • Whittle has been named the conference’s Freshman of the Week four times, the most of any honoree. She was also named ILWomen.com’s Freshman of the Week once.
  • The attacker came to Maryland as the top-ranked member of her class by Inside Lacrosse.
