ROSEMONT, Ill. – For the fifth time this season, Megan Whittle of Maryland women’s lacrosse has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday.
Whittle continued her scoring prowess as she recorded two multi-goal games in two top-15 wins last week. In an 18-10 win over then-No. 15 Princeton, Whittle scored six goals and picked up a ground ball. In the Terps’ 13-8 victory over then-No. 14 Ohio State, the freshman recorded her seventh hat trick of the season and one ground ball.
The Glenwood, Md., native leads Maryland with 49 goals, which ranks her first in the Big Ten and fourth nationally. She is second in the conference and sixth in the NCAA in goals per game (3.50).
The No. 1 Terps (14-0, 3-0 B1G) close out their nonconference schedule at No. 18 Johns Hopkins (11-2, 6-1 Patriot League) Wednesday. Opening draw is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
