Jones, Walker-Kimbrough Named to US Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  – Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the Maryland women’s basketball team were named to rosters for upcoming USA Basketball events this summer. Walker-Kimbrough was named to the roster for the Women’s Pan American Games Team and Jones was named to the roster for the World University Games Team.

The USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee issued the invitations to 54 of the best college players in the country. Trials were held this weekend at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to determine the rosters for the 2015 U.S. Pan American Women’s Basketball Team and the 2015 USA Women’s World University Games Team.

This is the first USA Basketball invitation for Jones and Walker-Kimbrough. Jones and the 12-member Women’s World University Games Team will return to Colorado Springs for training camp June 18-July 2 before heading to Gwangju, South Korea July 4-13.

Walker-Kimbrough and the 12-member Pan American Games Team will return to Colorado Springs for training camp July 3. The Pan American Games will begin July 8 in Toronto.

Jones led the team with 8.9 rebounds per game and shot 60.1 percent from the field (184-306) on the year to average 12.4 points per game. She was also named to the All-Big Ten First Team by the league’s media.

Walker-Kimbrough shot 51.3 percent from the field for 13.3 points per game with 5.3 rebounds and 55 steals this season as she helped the Terps to their second straight Final Four. Walker-Kimbrough was an All-Big Ten First Team honoree and made the Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America Team.
