COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team (7-0) finishes a four-game home stand against No. 11 Penn (6-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m.

• The Terps-Quakers game will be aired on BTN Plus.

• All parking lots around the Complex will be open.

• Senior attacker Caroline Wannen posted six points as the Terps opened conference play with a 17-4 win over No. 16 Johns Hopkins last Sunday.

• Wannen scored twice and added four assists. Sophomore attacker Caroline Steele notched four goals while senior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg, sophomore midfielder Jen Giles, junior attacker Megan Whittle and freshman attacker Brindi Griffin each added two scores.

• In her first start of the season, senior Emily Kift notched 10 saves and a .714 save percentage in goal.

scouting the penn quakers

• The Quakers defeated Duke, 16-6, last Satuday. Caroline Cummings led Penn with five goals against the Blue Devils.

• Alex Condon leads the team with 22 goals and 31 points. She is also tied for the team lead with 17 caused turnovers. Emily Rogers-Healion leads Penn with 12 assists.

• Britt Brown has played every minute in cage and holds a 7.71 goals against average and a .565 save percentage.

• Maryland is 109-2 in College Park under head coach Cathy Reese

• The Terps have won all eight games in which they have played an opponent ranked No. 1 or 2 at home in the past eight seasons.

•  Maryland is currently on a 55-game win streak at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex and hasn’t lost in College Park since March 10, 2012. The Terrapins are 247-16 in College Park, dating back to 1990.

four terps named to tewaaraton watch list

• Senior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg, senior defender Nadine Hadnagy and junior attacker Megan Whittle were named to the Tewaaraton Watch List last month. Sophomore goalie Megan Taylor was added to the watch list this week.

• Stukenberg, Hadnagy and Whittle were named Tewaaraton nominees last season. All three were named preseason first team All-Americans.

• Maryland has won six of the last seven Tewaaraton Awards.

terps selected as big ten favorites

• Maryland was unanimously selected to win the Big Ten Championship in the coaches’ preseason poll.

• The Terps have won the last two Big Ten regular season titles and are undefeated in conference play during the regular season since joining the conference in 2014. Maryland also won the 2016 Big Ten Tournament title.

• Following Maryland is Penn State (2), Northwestern (3), Johns Hopkins (4), Ohio State (5), Rutgers (6) and Michigan (7). Hopkins joins the Big Ten for women’s lacrosse this season.

six terps named il preseason all-americans

• Six returning members of the Maryland women’s lacrosse team were selected as Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans.

• Senior defender Nadine Hadnagy, senior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg and junior attacker Megan Whittle were named to the first team.

• Sophomore defender Julia Braig earned second team honors while senior attacker Caroline Wannen and sophomore goalie Megan Taylor were named honorable mention.

• Hadnagy, Stukenberg and Whittle are Maryland’s returning 2016 IWLCA All-Americans while Taylor was an all-region selection as just a freshman.

maryland welcomes top-ranked freshman class

• The Terrapins will feature Inside Lacrosse’s No. 1 freshman class in the nation next spring. This is the first time since 2011 Maryland has had the top-ranked freshman class. 

• The 2016 class includes Lizzie ColsonBrindi GriffinKali HartshornVictoria L'InsalataAndrea McTaggartNatalie MillerJulia SalandraNikki Sliwak and Hannah Warther.

• The Terps feature seven Under Armour All-Americans, all of whom were ranked by Inside Lacrosse: No. 2 Colson, No. 4 Griffin, No. 5 Warther, No. 19 Sliwak, No. 23 L’Insalata, No. 29 Hartshorn and No. 48 Miller.

hadnagy, stukenberg named team captains

• The Terps selected seniors Nadine Hadnagy and Zoe Stukenberg as team captains for the upcoming season.

• The 2017 roster voted on Hadnagy and Stukenberg to be captains for the second straight season.

• Both Hadnagy and Stukenberg return as three-year starters and were named Inside Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-Americans.

six terps named to u.s. world cup roster

• Six former members of the Maryland women’s lacrosse team were named to the 18-player U.S. Women’s National Team that will compete in the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup. 

• Attackers Alex Aust ‘13 and Brooke Griffin ‘15, midfielders Taylor Cummings ‘16 and Katie Schwarzmann ‘13 and defenders Megan Douty ‘15 and Alice Mercer ‘16 were selected to the U.S. squad.

• The Terps have the most representatives on the 2017 U.S. team of any collegiate program. The FIL World Cup, which takes place every four years, will be in Guildford, England, from July 12-22. The United States are seven-time world champions.
