COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Current Maryland women’s lacrosse attacker Megan Whittle and former Terrapin midfielders Camilla Hayes ‘13 and Laura Merrifield ‘11 were selected to England’s 18-player roster for the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup.
The FIL Women’s World Cup, which occurs every four years, will take place in Guildford, England, from July 12-22.
Merrifield represented England in the 2009 and 2013 FIL World Cups and was selected to the 2013 FIL All-World Team.
Six former Terps were named to the United States’ World Cup roster in January, including Alex Aust ‘13, Taylor Cummings ‘16, Megan Douty ‘15, Brooke Griffin ‘15, Alice Mercer ‘16 and Katie Schwarzmann ‘13.
Dana Dobbie ‘08 was selected to the Canadian National Team roster and Courtney Hobbs ’02, Sarah Mollison ’11 and current Terp Theo Kwas will represent Australia at the World Cup.
Including this year’s selections, Maryland has had 35 Terps compete in FIL World Cups.
