2017 Terrapin Tewaaraton Guide

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Nadine Hadnagy and Zoe Stukenberg will travel to the nation's capital Thursday for the 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony at the Smithsonian Instituition's National Museum of the American Indian.

As two-year co-captains, Hadnagy and Stukenberg led Maryland to the 2017 NCAA Championship and a 23-0 record, as well as the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. The duo has helped Maryland to an 89-3 overall record in their time as Terps, including three national titles.

The Terps have won the last five Tewaaratons and have seven winners in the history of the award. Taylor Cummings became the first-ever three-time winner last season (2014-16) while Katie Schwarzmann was a two-time winner in 2012 and 2013. Current Maryland assistant coach Caitlyn Phipps won the Tewaaraton in 2010 and Jen Adam earned the honor in its inaugural year in 2001.

The Terps have had 19 finalists, and this is the fifth time Maryland has had two finalists in the same season.

The five finalists for this year's award are Hadnagy, Stukenberg, Princeton attacker Olivia Hompe, North Caroline midfielder Marie McCool and Stony Brook attacker Kylie Ohlmiller.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. On the men's side, Maryland attackman Matt Rambo is a finalist.
