Terrapins Host Huskers on Senior Day

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The 13th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (22-5, 11-4 B1G) will host Nebraska (20-8, 11-4) Sunday at noon at the XFINITY Center. In her four years, Confroy has helped the Terps to a record of 119-16, the 2015 Final Four and three Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. Small joined the Terps in the summer of 2015, then redshirted the 2015-16 season. The past two years, she's helped Maryland to a record of 54-9 and the 2017 Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.

Sunday's matchup is the eighth all-time between Maryland and Nebraska, with the Terps taking the seven previous meetings. Most recently, the Terrapins won 64-57 in Lincoln on Feb. 4. Kaila Charles led the way with 25 points, 16 boards. Brianna Fraser scored 14 points and Eleanna Christinaki added 11.

Most recently, Maryland lost a close matchup at Michigan, 71-65, Thursday. It was a one-point game with 3:27 to play, then two late threes by the Wolverines were the difference. Charles led the way with 27 points. Stephanie Jones chipped in 13 and Brianna Fraser scored 11 off the bench.

The Terrapins are currently ranked No. 8 in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.395). Confroy is No. 12 in the country and leads the Big Ten in three-point FG percentage (.452). Kaila Charles is No. 8 in the league in scoring and in rebounding and No. 5 in field goal percentage. Freshman Channise Lewis averages 5.0 assists, which is fifth in the Big Ten overall and No. 2 among freshmen around the country. She is third in the league overall in assist/turnover ratio (2.7).

Confroy earned CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team honors Thursday for the third straight year. She will graduate with her degree in biological sciences, focusing on physiology and neurobiology this spring. She was accepted into Wake Forest’s medical school earlier this winter.

Maryland is ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and in the USA Today Coaches poll.
