COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland cross country and tennis programs were recognized Wednesday as part of the 2018 NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program. Both programs posted perfect four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1.000 and rank inside the top 10% nationally in their sports.
In order to earn the perfect 1.000, each program posted perfect single year scores of 1.000 for the academic years of 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017.
“We are proud to have our cross country and tennis programs recognized,” said Chris Uchacz, Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support & Career Development. “This achievement distinguishes these two programs for their consistent academic performance, dedication to excellence in the classroom and commitment to graduating student-athletes.”
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
