The Creative Media Manager-Men’s Basketball serves as the Video Coordinator for Men’s Basketball and is responsible for coordinating the video needs of the men’s basketball program and for leading and directing the design and production of visual and audio materials and media used by the men’s basketball program and web communications.
Oversees the creation of photo, video, and layout design needs for the men’s basketball program; for example, filming, self-scout cutups, edits, graphics, taping and dubbing of practice, taping television games, interviews and approves all finished products.
Establishes and implements design and format standards and processes to produce consistent and high quality results. Manages and produces annual year-end highlight video, motivational videos, recruiting videos, as well as other related projects throughout the year.
Creates, organizes and presents to coaching staff in usable format video of team practices and opponent performances and scouting; Oversees filming of team practices and games; trains, schedules and manages student videographers.
Selects any outside or contract vendors and approves and coordinates projects; orders and maintains all audio/video equipment for men’s basketball and manages video server space; manages online video library, motivational videos, highlight videos and scouting reports. Maintains video equipment, and stores video work product in both linear and non-linear format for ease of use by men’s basketball personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position requires incumbent to work non-standard hours and travel to numerous athletic and related events.
- Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communication, technology, sports management or related field is required.
- Five (5) years’ experience working in a basketball video capacity is required.
- Demonstrated experience with Sportscode, Synergy, Fast Model Sports, Adobe Premier, and Adobe Photo Shop is required.
- Experience in operating digital editing systems, a variety of video cameras and recording equipment, and an understanding of collegiate athletics.
- Work history will have demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills in a high demand/pressure-filled environment.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University and its employees and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the “NCAA”) and the Big Ten Conference (the “BIG10”).
- Ability to work non-standard hours and travel to numerous athletic and related events.
One (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have prior knowledge of Teamworks scheduling application as well.
