Terps Get 21-point Win In Opening Round Of Cancun Tournament

Marche Strickland (Kingston, Mass.) hit five three-pointers to lead Maryland to a 80-59 win over Eastern Michigan at el Torneo Cancun de Baskquetbol in Cancun, Mexico. Maryland is now 7-3, while Eastern Michigan falls to 7-2.

Terps' forward Deedee Warley (Fort Washington, Md.) added another 15 points, while sophomore Crystal Washington (Clinton, Md.) pitched in 13 in an outing that saw every Terrapin get playing time, and 11 out of 12 score points.

Maryland was up 17-5 just six minutes into the game, and kept at least an eight-point lead for the remainder of the game. Strickland hit for four of her five three-points in the firat half, while Warley paced the Terps' second-half efforts with 11 points.

Eagle guard Dru Bishop was EMU?s only double-figure scorer, finishing with 21 points.

For Maryland, Jamecca Harrell (Oxon Hill, Md.) had 11 rebounds and Renneika Razor (New York, N.Y.) grabbed eight to give the Terrapins the advantage on the boards, while Vicki Brick (Timonium, Md.) dished out seven assists.
