COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The fourth annual University of Maryland
President's Cup luncheon recognizing academic achievement and community
service by Terrapin student-athletes will be held Sunday, April 9 at 11
a.m. at the Inn and Conference Center on the university campus. Among
those awards to be given out are the department and ACC community
service awards, numerous awards for individual academic achievement, and
the President's Cup awards to the men's and women's athletics teams with
the highest grade point averages. One of the cornerstone events of the
academic and athletic year, the program is co-sponsored by the M-Club
and the Department of Athletics.
More than 40 student-athletes will be honored including Matt Hahn
(Columbia, Md.) of the men's basketball team and Scott Rudolph
(Hagerstown, Md.) of the football team. Larry Long (Columbia, Md.) of
the baseball team will be honored for community service and Emily Ward
(Ellicott City, Md.) of the national champion field hockey team will be
honored for academic achievement. Head football coach Ron Vanderlinden
will be present at the ceremony.
