Philip DePase

Phil DePase is in his first season as Maryland Director of Baseball Operations after being named to the position by head coach Rob Vaughn in 2022. 

DePase's duties include arranging all aspects of team travel and assisting with fundraising efforts, along with assisting with Maryland's team data analysis and direction of the Terps' student managers. 

DePase previously served as the Director of Baseball Operations at Oral Roberts during the 2022 and 2021 seasons. He came to ODU after serving in a coaching role with Cecil College. Prior to Cecil, DePase served as a date apprentice with the Texas Rangers, where he was in charge of all techology for the club's AAA affiliate. 

DePase's first staff roles after graduating from Maryland came at Kentucky where he served on staff from 2016-2018. He was promoted to Director of Player Development in summer 2018 and in that role he managed the team’s video analysis software and handles day-to-day video needs. He was originally hired as the program's video coordinator. 

A native of Elkton, Md., DePase attended the University of Maryland, where in 2016 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. While at Maryland, DePase was a student manager for the Maryland baseball program, earning the athletic department’s Jack Heise Manager of the Year award his senior year. He was a part of Maryland's 2015 and 2014 Super Regional appearances. 

Upon graduation, DePase was the Director of Baseball Operations at Cecil College in North East, Md., where he oversaw and coordinated the day-to-day needs and operations of the program. Prior to that, DePase interned at Ripken Baseball in Aberdeen, Md. as a baseball operations intern for their youth programs.
