Michael Pruchnicki joined the Gossett Student-Athlete Center in July 2022 as an Assistant Athletic Academic Counselor and was promoted to the Full-Time Staff as an Athletic Academic Counselor in February 2023. He now serves as the Athletic Academic Counselor for the Terps’ Baseball and Field Hockey programs and enters his third school year with the department ahead of 2024-25. 
 
He arrived in College Park from the University of Florida, where he earned his Master’s in Sport Management with a concentration in Student Affairs in April of 2022. During his time in Gainesville, he worked a multitude of roles in the University of Florida Athletics Association at the Hawkins Center for Student-Athlete Academics, including being a Content Tutor and Content Tutorial Administrative Assistant. 
 
Pruchnicki is a 2019 graduate of Oberlin College, where he earned his B.A. in Sociology and was a two sport student-athlete and eight time letter winner as a member of the Yeomen football and men’s lacrosse teams. He was awarded Best Teammate and Most Improved Player Awards in the football program during the 2018 season. He was also a two-time recipient of the Strongest Squirrel Award for heart, perseverance, and character for the men’s lacrosse team.
 
The Wilmette, Illinois native and big brother to his younger sisters Emily and Caroline enjoys running, cooking, trying new restaurants, and watching sports; especially college football and his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs.
