Brawley Evans

Brawley Evans, now in his eighth season with the Terps over two separate stints, will transition to coach inside linebackers in 2021 after leading the outside linebacker unit in 2020.

Maryland's pass rush improved substantially in Evans' first year on the defensive coaching staff in 2020, tallying more sacks in only five games than it did in nine Big Ten games the year prior, with 14, the second-best per game mark in the Big Ten. Durell Nchami earned PFF National Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Rutgers where he tallied two strip sacks.

Evans was a graduate assistant coach at Maryland (2012-13) and served as an analyst for four seasons (2016-19). Between his two stints at Maryland, Evans spent two seasons as the defensive backs coach/recruiting coordinator at Morgan State University.

During his time as a graduate assistant coach at Maryland, Evans assisted the Terps defensive coaches, working primarily with the linebackers, and also assisted in recruiting and scouting opponents.

Prior to his first stint at Maryland, Evans was the defensive backs coach at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. During his four-year tenure, the Falcons won three straight WCAC championships and ranked nationally in USA Today (2009, 2010 and 2011). His first coaching position came as head junior varsity coach and offensive coordinator at Baltimore Lutheran School in 2008.
