Chuck Lewis

Chuck Lewis is currently the associate director for academic support services for football.
 
He joined Maryland Athletics staff after working 10 years at the University of Akron where he served in various roles. He served as the Director of Student - Athlete Support services from Dec. 2013-April 2017 and served as a coordinator of academic support for football from June 2008-Dec. 2013.  During his time as a coordinator he also served as an adjunct professor in the sports management department from Jan 2010-Dec. 2013.
 
A native of Braddock, Pa., Lewis was a member of the University of Akron Football team from 2001-05, where he played a role in helping the school capture its first ever MAC Championship in 2005.  He also played in the Motor City Bowl in 2005, which also was the school’s first ever bowl appearance at the Division 1A level.  As a student, Lewis was member a member of WZIP 88.1 radio station sports department and also serve a role as a sports analyst for Z-TV in which he was the 2005-06 Sport Member of the year.
 
Lewis earned his bachelor's degree in communications from The University of Akron in 2006, and his Master's of Arts in education/sport administration from the University of Akron in 2008.
 
Lewis and his wife, Jaala, have three children: AJ, Donovan & Carson.
