Devon Frieson was promoted to Associate Director of the Barry and Mary Gossett Center for Academic and Personal Excellence in September 2022. Overall, he enters his eighth school year with Maryland ahead of 2024-25.
Frieson joined the Maryland athletics department as an academic counselor for the football program in fall 2017. He later became the assistant director of the Gossett Student-Athlete Center in January 2022 and added field hockey academic counceling to his duties.
Previously, Frieson served as an academic coordinator at Georgia Southern University, where he worked with men's basketball and track and field.
A native of Jacksonville Fla., Frieson played football for the University of Akron from 2009-13. He graduated in 2013 with an undergraduate degree in sports management and a graduate degree in 2015 in sport administration.
He is the son of Rosemary and Warren Frieson. Devon also has a son named Jaxon with his wife, Chasity, who was born in May 2021. The pair currently reside in Anne Arundel County.
