Dustin Semonavick joined Maryland's strategic communications team in August of 2015 as Assistant Athletics Director in charge of Football Communications. With nearly two decades of experience in athletics communications and public relations, Semonavick works closely with the football program to implement and execute communications strategies aimed at advancing the Terrapins brand. He serves as the primary media contact and spokesperson for the Maryland football program and helps provide oversight to the football creative content team.

Semonavick coordinates all media requests for the head coach, assistant coaches, and student-athletes at Maryland, while also collaborating closely with television and radio broadcast teams to enhance game coverage. Since arriving in College Park, Semonavick has pitched and executed dozens of feature stories that have aired on national platforms such as ESPN’s College GameDay, Outside The Lines and FOX Big Noon Kickoff.

Semonavick has promoted multiple All-Americans and executed impactful marketing campaigns to highlight the accomplishments of standout Maryland athletes, including WR DJ Moore, QB Taulia Tagovailoa, and WR Tai Felton.

Prior to Maryland, Semonavick served as the Director of Athletics Media Relations at Towson University, overseeing media and public relations efforts for 19 athletic programs, including the football team. Under his leadership, Towson's teams gained national exposure in media outlets such as USA Today, The New York Times, ESPN.com, and Yahoo! Sports. He also played a key role in launching a redesigned TowsonTigers.com and increasing fan interaction through newly created social media channels.

His earlier career stops include roles at Old Dominion University, where he managed media relations for a men’s basketball team that reached the NCAA Tournament’s second round, and at Rutgers University, where he assisted with media relations for the nationally-ranked women’s basketball program.

Semonavick is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
