In his second season as an assistant coach, Vaughn helped the Terps reach their 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament, the second longest streak in the country. The Terps had six student-athletes named All-Big Ten, including the Midfielder of the Year (Ben Bender) and Freshman of the Year (Joshua Bolma).
In his first season as an assistant, Vaughn helped the Terps reach the NCAA Tournament after an 0-3 start to the shortened spring season. The Terps featured four All-Big Ten selections and had a record 14 student-athletes selected to the Big Ten All-Academic team.
Vaughn was installed as interim assistant coach after Scott Buete's Feb. 2021 departure. Vaughn combined with head coach Sasho Cirovski, assistant coach Jake Pace and volunteer assistant Casey Beyers to form the staff for the spring 2021 season. Vaughn was then officially named assistant coach in June of 2021, dropping the interim tag.
As director of operations, Vaughn manages the Terps' budget, fundraising, travel logistics and team events and serves as a liason to Maryland's external operations staff. Vaughn successfully coordinated the 50th reunion of Maryland's 1968 National Championship team, including gifting the '68 team championship rings.
The Terps on-field success has not missed a beat with Vaughn on staff with the Terps capturing the 2018 National Championship in his first season in College Park. Vaughn has been a part of three NCAA Tournament appearances in his three seasons with the Terps.
With Bethesda, one of the top youth clubs in the area, Vaughn managed all club facilities, including scheduling venues for 80 teams. He was a key player in the growth of Bethesda’s field allotment. He also managed club equipment, registration, sponsorships and travel.

Prior to his time with Bethesda, Vaughn served was the director of soccer operations at the Baton Rouge Soccer Club. He directed all soccer programming, managed club fundraisers and sponsorships, and directed all communications to the club’s 7,000 members. Prior to being director of ops, Vaughn acted as the club’s director of development, where he also managed fundraising communications and sponsorships.
Vaughn also coached a pair of youth teams at Baton Rouge and was an assistant coach at Catholic High School, which was ranked No. 1 in the state during his tenure. Following his undergrad work, Vaughn participated in the prestigious Teach for America program.
A four-year player and captain at Austin College, Vaughn graduated cum laude from the school with a bachelor’s in economics and Spanish. He graduated from LSU in 2013 with a masters in educational leadership.
