Jacob Nicely

Jacob Nicely was named Maryland’s Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience in April of 2018.

Nicely currently oversees marketing efforts for men’s soccer and men’s lacrosse. Previously, Nicely has also served as the marketing contact for volleyball, for which his efforts helped Maryland exceed revenue projections and set attendance records.

In 2019, Maryland men’s lacrosse and men's soccer both led the nation in average attendance per game and total attendance. Nicely also led efforts that saw volleyball break The Pavilion single-game attendance record with 1,848 fans for their match against Wisconsin in 2018.

Prior to joining Maryland, Nicely served as the Marketing Associate at Clemson University where he oversaw marketing for women’s basketball, women’s soccer and tennis. In addition, he also served as the on-field coordinator for football and interim marketing contact for baseball during the 2017 season.

While at Clemson, women's basketball saw a 45% increase in attendance and women's soccer finished ninth in the nation with 1,395 fans per game setting a program record, while baseball finished 11th in the country averaging 4,625 fans per game. Nicely also helped direct a staff of 24 marketing interns and 22 game day operations staff members.

Nicely spent one year at the University of Georgia serving as the Promotions Assistant, overseeing marketing for women’s tennis, track & field, men’s and women’s golf and equestrian. He was also the secondary contact for men’s basketball, soccer and softball while also assisting with football. 

Nicely, a native of Vinton, Va., is a 2015 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in sport and recreation management. He earned his master’s degree in athletic leadership from Clemson University in August of 2018.
