UMTerps.com sat down with Malachi Palmer to get to know him on and off the court

Question: How did you get started with basketball? How old were you and who influenced you to play?

Malachi Palmer: I started playing when I was four years old. At the local YMCA, my dad  would take me and I used to just practice with him. As I was growing up and playing, I would watch people like Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. I would watch people like that growing up. LeBron James has always been my favorite player. So that's someone I definitely have always looked up.

Q: Do you have any pre game rituals you do that you have to do?

MP:  I have to take a nap and I have to pray. It doesn't depend on how long I just have to sleep and relax before the game. If I don't sleep, I'm not going to play well.

Q: What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

MP:  "Work like no one else, so later, you can live like no one else" - To me this means putting in a sacrifice now, in order to get results later down the line. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something fun or what others may be doing around you, so that you can have your success later.

Q: How are you liking your experiences so far with the team and coaches?

MP:  I'm enjoying it a lot, being around a new environment and a new group of guys. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can right now.

Q: If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would they be?

MP: My grandma, Lebron and Jesus.

Q: If you didn't play basketball, what sport would you play?

MP: Football, quarterback or receiver.

Q: If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life?

MP: Valuable Pain by YoungBoy

Q: If you could recruit any fictional character to be on your team, who would it be?

MP: Definitely the Hawk or Flash. The Hawk is going to get every rebound and be a rim protector. Flash is too fast so that's all I need.

Q: What is a memorable experience you have had with fans at a game?

MP: Once, there were these little kids at one of my games talking about how good I was. My mom was sitting behind them, that's how I found out about it.
