As a Freshman: Indoor- Competed in four meets...placed eighth in the mile at the Terrapin and Maryland (II) invitationals...took ninth in the mile and sixth in the 3,000 meter run at the Delaware Invitational...Outdoor- Ran in the 800, 1,500 and 3,000 meter steeplechase...took second at the Maryland Invitational in the 3,000 meter steeplechase...broke the school record for the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Patriot Open with a time of 11:33.60, nearly 45 seconds faster than the previous program record.
Before Maryland: Won four varsity letters in cross country at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, N.J....in 2000, her team became the Group III State Champions...was part of the 2001 Central Jersey Sectional Champion team...served as captain her senior year and was MVP...awarded Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Award...was class historian for two years...was a student representative for four years...a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Shari Gorga...born May 15, 1984...daughter of Gayle and Gary Gorga...has one sister, Amy...majoring in marketing...chose Maryland over James Madison, Rutgers, Bloomsburg and Columbia...enjoys going to the beach, spending time outside and visiting her family.
On Nov. 8 2025, Malik Washington rushed for a career-high 164 yards at Rutgers.
