Marta Amerein returned to the University of Maryland Sports Medicine Department in 2013 and serves as the Athletic Trainer for the Women’s Soccer and Women’s Tennis programs.
Marta received her Masters of Tourism Administration with an emphasis in Sports Management from George Washington University in May 2013. During her two years in Washington, DC, Marta worked with the athletes of the GWU men’s soccer team and was part of the team that captured the Atlantic-10 regular season conference title in 2011.
Prior to her time at GWU, Marta completed a two year fellowship at the University of Maryland from 2009-2011. While at UMD, she served as the athletic trainer with the Football and Competitive Cheerleading teams. Marta worked with the Terrapin football program during their 2010 season that was capped by a Military Bowl victory. Marta was also apart of the Terrapin Competitive Cheerleading teams that won the NCA Grand National Championship in 2010 and earned a runner-up finish during the 2011 season.
In 2009, Marta graduated from the University of Georgia with her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. During her time in Athens, she worked with the Football, Softball, Tennis and Equestrian teams. In addition to working with the UGA athletes, she spent three weeks studying abroad at the National Taiwan Sport University. While in Taiwan, Marta studied Traditional Chinese medicine techniques including massage, cupping, and acupuncture.
She has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) since 2007, and is currently CPR/AED certified.
A native of Marietta, GA, Marta currently resides in Crofton, MD.
