    Assistant Coach
Head coach Sean Schimmel has added another strong assistant coach to the Maryland swimming and diving program with the addition of former Terp All-American Laura Wright.

Wright was a four-time All-American and was a part of the 2010 Maryland squad that finished in the NCAA Top 25. She holds a school record in the 800 Free Relay and graduated in 2010 from Maryland with a degree in Kinesiology.

For Wright, returning to Maryland under the tutelage of Schimmel seemed like the right next step in her career.

"It is a great honor to have been given this opportunity," Wright said. "I admire Sean's vision and leadership for Maryland swimming and diving and I plan on bringing back the same dedication and pride I had as a student-athlete. Our program will continue to thrive under Sean's direction and he is continuing to lay the foundation for the future this season, bringing in nationally-ranked recruiting classes on both sides."

Before joining Maryland, Wright was an assistant coach with the Golden West Swim Club in Huntington Beach, Calif. She also worked as the head life guard and swim instructor in Longmont Colorado at the Fox Hill Country Club.

"I am truly excited to have Laura back on the Terrapin deck," Schimmel said. "Having gone through our program and graduated from Maryland as an All-American, Laura has great pride and excitement for the future of this program. She has a learned a lot in this past year coaching alongside Mark Shubert. We are looking forward to having Laura play an integral role as the Terrapins continue their rise to the top of the ACC!"

Wright's college career began at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., where she was a four-time Big East champion and worked as a camp counselor and swim instructor.
