Originally from West Chicago, Keegan Johnson joined the University of Maryland as the Learning Specialist for Men’s Basketball and Academic Counselor for Women’s Tennis in August 2022. She enters her third school year in 2024-25 working in this role.
Before coming to Maryland, Johnson served as the Head Acrobatics and Tumbling Coach and Director of Academic Advising for Student-Athletes at Converse University.
In December 2020, Johnson graduated from the University of Missouri with her Master’s in Educational, School and Counseling Psychology. At Mizzou, she served as the Assistant Academic Coordinator working with Football and Men’s Golf.
Johnson graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2015. She was an athlete on the Acrobatics and Tumbling team, where she was a member of the first ever NCATA National Championship team in 2015. She is a two-time NCATA All-American and was voted team “Most Valuable Player” in 2015.
While at Converse, Johnson was the first NCATA program to compete for a national championship in its inaugural season and coached four All-American athletes, 10 all-conference selections, and six national champions. Her team was the first ever Conference Carolinas champion in 2021 and was voted the Converse Coach of the Year in 2019, 2021 and 2022. In 2021, she was also selected as the Joe Ann Lever Award Recipient, presented in recognition of improving the quality of life for students on campus.
Johnson is the daughter of Andy Johnson and Rachel Sheptock. She is the oldest of three children, including her sister Kayley and brother Michael. In her free time Keegan enjoys spending time with her partner – David, her dog Java, and discovering new coffee shops.
