Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2018): Appeared in 54 games and started in all 54 as team’s primary shortstop... ranked first on team in hit by pitch (4)... ranked second on team in sac bunts (4).... ranked fourth on team in doubles (5) and stolen bases (3)... ranked fifth on team in on base percentage (.312) and runs scored (16)... had 64 putouts and 133 assists... had first hit of the season in final game of the UCLA Tournament (2/9-11) in win against Middle Tennessee (2/11)... had a strong performance in Florida Tournament (2/23-25)... hit 2-for-3 including a double an RBI and scored a run in win against Iowa State (2/23)... went 1-for-2 and scored a run at Florida (2/23)... had a stolen base against Georgia Southern (2/24)... started a five-game hitting streak hitting 5-for-10 in five games, starting in Maryland Invitational (3/8-10)... first hit of the streak was against Jacksonville (3/9)... hit 1-for-3 with and RBI in final game of the Hawaii Tournament at Hawaii (3/18)... started off Big Ten play with three hits scoring two runs an RBI a double and stolen base in series at Penn State (3/24-25)... went 3-for-7 scoring two runs a double with a stolen base in series win against Iowa (3/30-4/1)... hit 2-for-3 with a double two RBIs and scored a run in win against Rutgers (4/17)... went 2-for-8 and scored five runs to finish off the regular season in series against Michigan State (4/4-5)... went 1-for-3 and scored a run to end the season in the Big Ten Tournament against Illinois (5/10).

At Florida Southwestern State: Two-time Suncoast Conference First Team honoree…helped lead FSW to its first-ever FCSAA State Championship and second consecutive berth to the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship in 2017…hit .389 with a homer, two triples and three doubles to go with 27 RBIs and 47 stolen bases during 2017 season…as a freshman, Werahiko, a 2016 Suncoast Conference First Team honoree and FCSAA All-Tournament team selection, hit .350 with five homers, nine doubles and 53 RBI…recorded eight triples on the season, which ranked t-11th in the NJCAA and t-3rd in Region 8/FCSAA…during league play, she hit. 386 with a pair of round-trippers, five triples and 17 runs batted in…member of team New Zealand at the 2016 World Cup of Softball and Women's Softball World Championship…

At Aranui High School: Member of the NZ Junior White Sox world championships team that finished 4th in Brampton, Canada in 2013…Made her first appearance for the national senior NZ White Sox also in 2013 and was selected to the 2014 World Series Team that competed in Haarlem, Netherlands…Represented her province at all age grade levels and since 2012 for the open grade Canterbury Red Hawks…Awarded Canterbury Softball Association Women’s Player of the Year in 2012…In 2014 she was a member of the Under 19s team that won the National Championship title and with the Red Hawks claimed the National Fastpitch Championship title.

Personal: Born on February 26, 1996…daughter of Gail Werahiko…chose Maryland for the softball and academics…lists sports hero as Valerie Adams...has two sisters, Carly and Krystal...majoring in sociology.
