Elijah Oliver was named to the Terps Wrestling coaching staff in June 2021 by head coach Alex Clemsen. A former standout wrestler at Indiana University, Oliver compiled 91 victories in his career with four trips to the NCAA Championships.Â
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, Oliver was promoted to a full-time Assistant Coach.Â
In three seasons with the Terps, Oliver has worked closely with the program's lower-weights, most notably with two-time NCAA Qualifier Braxton Brown. Brown led the Terps with 16 dual wins in 2022-23 as the team secured 10 dual victories, the most since 2012-13. With Oliver’s assistance, the Terps have had four other qualifiers for a total of five in each of the past two seasons.Â
The Washington, Ill. native led Indiana with 29 wins as a senior in 2018-19, earning the Indiana MVP Award and finishing fourth at the Big Ten Championships. Oliver also took home fifth place (2015-16), sixth place (2016-17), and eighth place (2017-18) at the Big Ten Championships during his four-year collegiate career.
Upon graduation at Indiana, Oliver spent six months as the head coach of the Birmingham Wrestling Complex (Birmingham, Ala.), where he led the Team Alabama Cadet Freestyle/Greco Dual Team. Under Oliver's instruction, three of his pupils have earned High School All-American status, five wrestlers have won Alabama State Championships, and 14 have placed at the Alabama State Championships.
