Originally from Massachusetts, Abigail Purches joined the GSAC Staff as an Assistant Athletic Academic Counselor in June 2024.
Purches graduated from Franklin Pierce University in May 2022 with a Bachelor's of Arts in History and Music and certificates in Global Irish Studies, Women and Gender in Leadership, and Global Citizenship. In May 2024, Purches graduated Vanderbilt University with a Master's of Education degree in Higher Education Administration.
Prior to Maryland, Purches worked as a Tour Guide, Campus Student Ambassador, and Student-Athlete Writing Tutor at Franklin Pierce. At Vanderbilt, Purches held a Graduate Assistant position at the Office of Experiential Learning and Immersion, where she worked as an advisor helping undergraduate students achieve their professional goals under the Immersion Program. She also interned with the Ingram Center for Student-Athlete Success helping advise the Mens and Womens Tennis Teams.
Purches is the daughter of Jodi and Jeff Purches and has a younger brother, Nate, who is a part of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). Abbi loves traveling and has been to over 30 different states and 7 different countries. When not at work, you can find her exploring the museums in D.C., trying out new breweries and restaurants, working out, or listening to numerous true crime podcasts.
