COLLEGE PARK, MD - Senior outside hitter Beth Murphy posted a match-high 14 kills and added nine digs, and senior outside hitter Kate Hannas recorded 10 kills and seven digs, leading Maryland (11-14, 4-7 ACC) to a 15-9, 15-13, 15-3 win over Florida State (8-15, 1-9 ACC) in volleyball action at Ritchie Coliseum on Saturday. The match was the final home contest of the year for the Terps.
Maryland maintained the upper hand throughout the first game, winning 15-9, but found itself in a tighter battle in the second game. With the scored tied at 13-13 in the second game, the Terps came up with two crucial points to win 15-13 and go up two games to none.
In the third and final game, the score was tied at 2-2, but the Terps went on a 13-1 tear to seal the match with a 15-3 win.
For the Maryland, Maren Stuart posted 11 kills and Carey Brennan had nine kills. Libby Alberts tallied a match-high 33 assists. Willette Dority added five total blocks.
Florida State was led by Jennifer Werrick, who posted 11 kills and a match-high 15 digs, and Jamie Hibbard, who dished out 30 assists.
Maryland travels to Georgia Tech on Friday for a 7 p.m. match.
