Incoming Freshman Raina Chwialkowski Named Gatorade North Dakota Player of the Year

CHICAGO, IL – Incoming freshman Raina Chwialkowski was named the 2024–25 Gatorade North Dakota Volleyball Player of the Year. The honor marks the second consecutive year Chwialkowski has received the award.

The 5-foot-9 junior libero totaled 595 digs at a rate of 5.2 per set this past season, leading the Packers (21–14) to the Class A state final. Ranked as the nation's No. 46 prospect in her class by PrepVolleyball, Chwialkowski also recorded 82 assists and 63 service aces. She earned AVCA Second Team All-American honors and was named to the PrepVolleyball All-Midwest Region team.

Off the court, Chwialkowski has volunteered locally with Relay for Life and the Philanthropy and Youth organization, while also donating her time to Fraser Ltd. and the Fargo All-Stars Family.

"Raina exemplifies what coaches look for at her position while simultaneously fulfilling her role as a leader and elevating the confidence of her peers," said Horace High School head coach Hadley Plank. "She sets the standard of play at the libero position in this state and exceeds all desirable characteristics of a leader and high-performing student-athlete, on and off the court."

In the classroom, Chwialkowski has maintained a weighted 4.11 GPA.

The Gatorade Player of the Year award is the top honor in high school sports, recognizing the nation's best student-athletes for their excellence on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. The award distinguishes Chwialkowski as North Dakota's top high school volleyball player, placing her among an elite group of alumni that includes CEOs, coaches, and star athletes such as April Ross, Kerri Walsh Jennings, and Ayden Ames.

Graduating early, Raina is set to arrive in College Park and join the Terps this spring.
