Men's Soccer Games At Adidas Tournament To Be Webcast On Internet

COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- - This weekend's showdown between No. 3 Maryland and defending national champion, preseason No.1 Indiana will be shown live on the internet around the world. All four games of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic will be presented live on the World Wide Web through broadcast.com. The Web address for this special feature will be http://broadcast.iu.edu/adidas_soccer_classic/ or can be reached from the Maryland Athletics Homepage at www.umterps.com. For those who can't log on to see the action as it unfolds, the tournament will be rebroadcast for one month on the Web. Although the tournament has a 17-year history, this year it will make history as the first event of its kind to be broadcast over the Web.

In addition to the excitement of the tournament, a number of features will be available only to those who view the event through broadcast.com. An interactive question and answer forum with the coaches will enable viewers to get immediate feedback and answers to their pressing soccer questions. Also planned are pre-game interviews of the outstanding players and the coaches, as well as halftime shows The other teams in the adidas Classic are also among some of the nation's best. Indiana is the defending National Champions and the preseason No.1 choice of both Soccer America and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. No. 16 Butler won the Midwestern Collegiate Conference title last season and finished the year 19-5-1. No.14 Saint Louis also made the NCAA Tournament last season and four of the team's top five scorers return to this year's team.

On Friday, Sept. 3, Butler and Saint Louis will kick things off at 4:00 p.m. (ET). No. 1 Indiana and No. 3 Maryland will face-off later that night at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday, September 5, No. 14 Butler and No. 3 Maryland play at noon while Indiana takes on Saint Louis at 1:30 p.m. In addition to the excitement of the tournament, a number of features will be available only to those who view the event through broadcast.com. Among those features are pregame interviews with the players and the coaches, as well as halftime shows.
