COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Sophomore setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) recorded a team-high 32 assists but it was not enough as the University of Maryland women's volleyball team lost to the University of North Carolina (0-3) 13-15, 10-15, 12-15, Friday evening at Ritchie Coliseum.
Senior middle hitter Maren Stuart (Tampa, Fla.) led the Terp attack with 12 kills and a career-high hitting percentage of (.579). Sophomore Carey Brennan (Smithburg, Md.), the team leader in kills and digs, posted 10 kills and a team-high 15 digs on the night.
Maryland battled in every game posting double-digit points, but the Tar Heels were too much to overcome. North Carolina was led by freshman outside hitter Nicole Reis as she smacked a match-high 17 kills.
With the loss, Maryland falls to 9-8 on the season and 1-5 in the ACC. North Carolina improves to 15-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
The Terrapins return to action Saturday, Oct. 7, versus NC State at Ritchie Coliseum. The match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
