COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The University of Maryland women's volleyball team made history Saturday evening as the Terps defeated NC State (3-1) 6-15, 15-3, 15-13, 15-10, to capture win number 700 in Maryland volleyball history.

"Winning 700 matches speaks highly of Barb Drum and her time at Maryland along with the University's commitment to funding a quality volleyball program," commented head coach Janice Kruger. Drum coached the Terps to 457 wins during her 17 seasons at Maryland while Kruger has guided the Terrapins to 243 wins over her 13 years in College Park.

Sophomore outside hitter Carey Brennan (Smithburg, Md.) smacked a match-high 22 kills and recorded a team-high 13 digs in the win. Sophomore setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) paced the Maryland offense with a match-high 53 assists on the night. Senior Nnenna Amobi (Silver Spring, Md.) had a solid all-around effort with 13 kills, four blocks and two service aces for the winners.

"I am happy to see that our hard work and effort paid off and we got a win in the competitive ACC," said Kruger.

Maryland improves on the season to 10-8 overall and 2-5 in the ACC. NC State drops to 6-12 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

The Terps continue their four-match homestand Friday, Oct. 13, when the Terrapins face ACC rival Virginia. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
