DIRECTOR - MISSY MEHARG
Missy Meharg, Head Coach of the University of Maryland Field Hockey Program, begins her fifth year as director of "Advanced Play, Inc." Hockey camps and clinics. The Terrapins have won NCAA National Championships in 1993 and 1987, and are the 1998 defending ACC Champions. Missy has collected NCAA Division I "Coach of the Year" awards twice and Atlantic Coast Conference "Coach of the Year" four times along the way. As a member of the United States National Team coaching staff from 1994-97, Missy was the Head U.S. Under 21 coach in '94 and '95, assistant coach of the 1994 World Cup Senior Team, assistant coach of the 1995 Pan American Team, and the assistant coach of the 1996 Olympic Team in Atlanta. Missy is presently a Level I international coach, earned through a coaching certification program organized by the Federation of International Hockey. As a player, which included participating on the 1986 World Cup Team, Alternate to the 1988 Olympic Team, the 1991 Pan American Team, and the 1991 Olympic Qualifying Tournament Team. She holds a masters degree in Sports Psychology with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Dear Campers:
This is an invitation for you to attend the 5th annual Missy Meharg's School of Hockey at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Our OPEN/TEAM CAMP offers you a four-day session of fun while playing hockey with and against teammates & players of your own age and talent level. Our excellent coaching staff this week will include club, collegiate, and international level coaches. They will teach you the individual skills, team tactics, and simple intricacies in the game of hockey. You'll enjoy playing on our six grass fields and four Astroturf fields. You will stay in the dorms, eat at the University of Maryland training table, and take advantage of our state-of-the-art recreation and aquatics center.
At ADVANCED CAMP, for four days you will study the game of hockey both mentally and physically. You will be regarded as an "Elite" potential hockey player while competing against players with similar aspirations. ALL training will be on our four Astroturf fields.
Either session will be a fun and rewarding experience that will provide memories and hockey knowledge for a lifetime!
STAFF
ADVANCED PLAY employs a quality staff with coaching experience ranging from college to international play, including members of the U.S. Men's & Women's national teams. In addition to the quality head coaches, campers will also have the opportunity to interact with current Terrapin players and other All-American Collegiate Field Hockey Players. Current Terrapin Assistant Coaches Ange Bradley, Steve Simpson, and Kate Kauffman will assist Missy in the directorship of Advanced Play Field Hockey Camps and Clinics.
TUITION and PAYMENT
The tuition for camps are as follows:
Open/Team Session - Overnight = $360.00
Advanced Session - Overnight = $390.00

non-refundable deposit of
$160.00 must accompany the enclosed application to secure a registration spot. Upon receipt of the deposit and application form, campers will be sent confirmation and additional materials regarding camp. Personal checks will be accepted as a mode of payment until July 1, 2000 only!!
PLEASE SEND NO CORRESPONDENCE IN THE MAIL AFTER JULY 1, 2000. After July 1, 2000 all payments must be paid in cash or certified check and hand-carried to registration! At no time does Advanced Play, Inc. accept credit cards as a method of payment. If you receive no confirmation after 30 days from the date of mailing in your application, please phone our office.
LOCATION AND FACILITIES
The University of Maryland offers four full Astroturf fields, one of the premier athletic facilities in the country. Playing hockey on "turf" is the best way to improve your skills and hone your game. Campers will be housed in campus dormitories and all meals will be at the University of Maryland training table. The campus is accessible off of exit #25 of I-95. Follow Route 1 south and the entrance will be located on your right.
ELIGIBILITY
According to NCAA rules, student athletes who have completed their senior year in high school are eligible to participate!!

OPEN/TEAM SESSION - July 23 - 26
An open invitation to individuals or teams. Topics include individual and team instruction, offensive & defensive techniques, and specialized goalkeeping instruction. This session is available to overnight campers only. Space is limited - secure your spot now!
ADVANCED SESSION - Aug. 3 - 6
An advanced session designed specifically for the "elite" player. Do you want to develop your tactical & technical abilities? Are you familiar with dead ball situations? Are you capable of executing penalty corner situations? Do you want to enhance your 1 v 1 skills both offensively and defensively? Are you aspirations aimed at playing the game of hockey at the top collegiate level - well beyond the high school arena? Then this is the week for you!! This session is available to overnight campers only. Space is limited - secure your spot now!
