Stockton, Calif.- The University of Maryland women's volleyball team dropped their opening match of the season Friday night to the University of Michigan 6-15, 7-15, 8-15, at the Nike Invitational in Stockton, Calif.
Sophomore outside hitter Carey Brennan (Smithburg, Md.) led the Terps in defeat. Brennan smacked 11 kills on the night and also turned in 11 digs for the Terrapins. Sophomore setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) totaled 24 assists for Maryland.
With the loss, the Terrapins fall to 0-1 and Michigan is 1-0 to start the season. Maryland will look for their first win of the season tomorrow as the Terps will play two matches to conclude the Nike Invitational. Maryland will face No. 12 Pacific at 2:00 p.m. and will finish up with Sacramento State at 8:00 p.m.
