Stockton, Calif.-Senior middle hitter Maren Staurt (Tampa, Fla.) recorded a match-high seven kills but it was not enough as No.12 Pacific defeated Maryland 3-0 (1-15,6-15, 2-15) in the second day of the Nike Invitational in Stockton, Calif.

Pacific got out to the quick start against the young Terps and never looked back. With the score tied at one, the Tigers rolled off 14 straight points and cruised to the three-game victory.

Maryland is now 0-2 as the Terps have faced two ranked opponents to start the 2000 season. Pacific improves to 2-0.

The Terps will look to bounce back tonight, as they will face Sacramento State at 8:00 p.m. in their final match at the Nike Invitational.
