Post-Game Quotes: Maryland vs. EA Sports All-Stars

Nov. 2, 2001

Head Coach Gary Williams

On the game:

"I thought we played well at times and other times we didn't play so well. There wasn't much consistency out there. I was glad it was a pretty good game, it made us do some things and it kept us sharp."

On Tahj Holden and Chris Wilcox:

"Chris gives you a tremendous amount of athletic ability at the power forward spot that few teams have. That is a very big plus. Tahj does a lot of good things in terms of running the offense. He plays really good team defense. Each guy brings something different. We still have to see which guy is going to start. In my mind, the difference is going to be, how do we play early in the game with one guy starting versus the other. Both those guys are going to play a lot of minutes."

On preparing for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic:

"I think we got what we wanted out of this game to help us prepare for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. We got to play a lot of guys. Some guys got to play through some nerves. Some of the guys realize that we have to show up every night to play, nobody is going to back up. Some things happened out there tonight that surprised a couple of our players and that is a good thing."

On the freshmen nerves:

"They were nervous. Ryan Randle has been our leading rebounder in a couple scrimmages with referees, and Michael Grinnon has shot the ball very well and Andre Collins looked strong in practice as well. You have to understand they are not just coming into college basketball, they are on the number three-rated team in the country. This type of pressure is all new to them, it takes time to adjust."
