BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Maryland women's volleyball team lost to Indiana (3-0) Friday evening in the season opener for both schools at the Blimpie/Holiday Inn Classic in Bloomington. The Terps stayed competitive but lost 30-27, 30-24, 30-19 to the host Hoosiers.
The Terrapins were paced by junior outside hitter Carey Brennan (Smithsburg, Md.), who hit a team-high 12 kills and collected five digs. Senior middle hitter Willette Dority (Congers, N.Y.) also had a good showing as she tallied nine kills and a team-best .467 attack percentage. Junior setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) dished out 34 assists and recorded seven digs in defeat for the Terrapins.
Maryland will look to earn its first victory of the young season tomorrow when the Terps play two games at the Blimpie/Holiday Inn Classic. First up on the slate is a clash with SEC power Tennessee at 9:30 a.m. and the two-day event concludes for the Terrapins against Bowling Green at 4:30 p.m.
