RALEIGH, N.C. - Three Maryland volleyball players registered double-digit kills but the Terps still lost at NC State (1-3) 30-22, 30-23, 19-30, 30-27, Saturday night in Raleigh. The loss was the second straight ACC defeat for the Terps as they fall to 3-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
After dropping the first two games of the match, the Terps rallied to win game three 30-19 and looked to be in control of game four, leading 22-16. The Wolfpack stormed back and held on to win the game 30-27 and the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Maria DiLivio (Hamilton, Ontario), the team's leader in kills on the season, paced the Maryland attack again with 15 kills. Junior outside hitter Carey Brennan (Smithsburg, Md.) finished the match with 14 kills and 10 digs while sophomore right side Lynnsy Jones (Castro Valley, Calif.) tallied 12 kills and eight digs.
Freshman setter Aimee Huddleston (Keller, Texas) made her first career start and dished out a career-high 26 assists in the loss for the Terrapins.
The Wolfpack were paced by senior Charece Williams, who smacked a match-high 18 kills in the victory. The victory for NC State improved the Pack to 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in the conference.
Maryland returns to the court Tuesday at home against Virginia. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
