COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Maryland head volleyball coach Janice Kruger announced Friday Maryland volleyball's 2002 schedule. The Terrapins face a demanding schedule vs. some of the nation's finest and will also play 15 home matches in Ritchie Coliseum.

The Terps 2002 slate begins in College Park Aug. 30-31 when Maryland hosts George Washington, Binghamton and UMBC at the Maryland Invitational. The season opener will get underway Friday, August 30 vs. George Washington at 7 p.m.

The out-of-conference slate continues the following weekend at James Madison for the James Madison Invitational. The two-day tournament will feature matches vs. the host Dukes and matches against Campbell and Syracuse.

The second home tournament of the season, the Terrapin Invitational, along with non-conference matches vs. Georgetown and Towson are also on the schedule before ACC competition begins. At the Terrapin Invitational, the Terps will welcome an intriguing field including Loyola Marymount, Indiana and Boston College.

The final trip for the Terps before ACC play will be out west to Denver, Colo. for the Denver Invitational. Maryland will compete vs. Santa Clara, Minnesota and Denver Sept. 20-21 before heading back to College Park for its ACC opener vs. Georgia Tech on Sept. 27.

The ACC season will finish up Sunday, November 17 at North Carolina before the ACC Championships. The conference tournament will be held at Georgia Tech next season, November 21-24, in Atlanta.
