COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior linebacker E.J. Henderson and three other members of the Terrapins' 2002 football team have earned preseason All-America recognition in various magazines hitting the newstands this summer.

Henderson, a consensus first team All-American as a junior last year, has been named a preseason first team All-American by The Sporting News, Lindy's, Athlon, Street & Smith's and Playboy. The 6-2, 250-pounder from Aberdeen, Md., was last year's ACC Player of the Year after a record-setting season in which he registered 28 tackles for losses among his 150 total tackles. Henderson was tabbed the preseason National Defensive Player of the Year by Lindy's.

Also earning preseason first, second or third team All-America mention include junior tailback Bruce Perry, senior punter Brooks Barnard, and senior offensive guard Todd Wike.

In addition, The Sporting News ranked the following Terps among the top 10 at their respective positions in its annual All-America rankings: Henderson (No. 1 linebacker), Wike (No. 4 offensive guard), Perry (No. 4 running back), Barnard (No. 7 punter), James Lynch (No. 9 fullback), and Jeff Dugan (No. 17 tight end).

Lindy's ranked the following Terps at their respective positions: Henderson (No. 1 linebacker), Perry (No. 1 running back), Barnard (No. 1 punter), and Wike (No. 1 offensive guard).
