COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior right side hitter Lynnsy Jones (Castro Valley, Calif.) posted a team-high 20 kills and hit .357 as the University of Maryland women's volleyball team topped George Mason Tuesday night in Comcast Center Gymnasium, 3-1 (30-19, 30-27, 29-31, 30-26). The Terrapins have now won eight straight matches and improve to 9-2 on the year, while George Mason falls to 4-7.

Maryland won games one and two behind strong efforts from Jones and junior outside hitter Maria DiLivio (Hamilton, Ontario), who each tallied 10 kills to help the Terps jump out to a 2-0 lead. DiLivio finished the match with 19 kills and 15 digs.

The Patriots would come back and win a close third game, 31-29, behind six kills from senior outside hitter Aline Pereira. Pereira finished with a match-high 34 kills to lead George Mason.

The Patriots had an early 10-6 lead in game four, but the Terrapins battled back to tie the game at 15. From there, the Terrapins took a 17-16 lead on a kill by sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Smith (Bethesda, Md.) and never trailed again, winning the fourth game by a score of 30-26. Smith posted 10 kills for the match.

Terrapin head coach Janice Kruger utilized her bench against George Mason, as reserves Jennifer Dewalt (Bethlehem, Pa.), Stephanie Doiron (Windsor, Ontario) and Teryn Papp (Bloomington, Ind.) all saw significant time.

Junior outside hitter Sarah Treadwell (Pearland, Texas) and sophomore Rachel Wagener (Chesapeake, Va.) also contributed on both sides of the net. Treadwell had nine kills and a team-high 16 digs, while Wagener tallied 12 kills and a team-high six blocks. Junior setter Aimee Huddleston (Keller, Texas) again had a solid all-around effort, contributing 55 assists, three blocks, four kills and an ace.

The Terps are back in action this Friday and Saturday when they travel to the Loyola-Chicago/adidas Invitational in Chicago, Ill. They are set to take on host Loyola-Chicago Friday at 7 p.m. CT and Southern Methodist and Xavier Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CT and 5 p.m. CT.
