Postgame Notes

  • Maryland advanced to the College Cup for the third straight season with a 1-0 win over St. John's Saturday afternoon.
  • With the win, Maryland improved to 17-5-2. The Terps have won 57 games over the past three seasons.
  • The crowd of 4,404 was the second-largest in Ludwig Field history, and the largest ever to see a NCAA Tournament game at Ludwig Field. The previous NCAA Tournament high was 3,460 in 2001 when Maryland defeated Connecticut to advance to the national semifinals.
  • Maryland has won nine straight NCAA Tournament games at Ludwig Field. The last time Maryland lost at Ludwig Field in the tournament was November 25, 2001. The Terps are 37-3-1 at Ludwig over the past three seasons.
  • The Terps shutout their third straight opponent in the NCAA Tournament. Goalkeeper Noah Palmer has eight career NCAA Tournament shutouts and 34 for his career. The Terps have shutout seven of their last nine opponents.
  • The win over St. John's was Maryland's first in NCAA Tournament action. The Red Storm had eliminated Maryland twice previously in postseason play.
  • Head coach Sasho Cirovski will be making his fourth College Cup appearance with the Terps. All of those trips have come in the last seven years. Cirovski is 16-8-2 in NCAA Tournament play at Maryland.
  • A.J. Godbolt's goal was his second of the season and the second of his career.
  • Mediate's assist was his ninth of the season, tying him for second on the team with Jason Garey.
  • Godbolt wore No. 25 on Saturday after he discovered a rip in his No. 5 jersey.
  • The Terps used just 12 players on Saturday. A.J. Godbolt was the only player to come off the bench for the Terps.
  • Freshman Maurice Edu is the lone Californian on the Maryland squad. His home of Fontana, Calif., is approximately 50 miles east of the Home Depot Center.
  • St. John's was held without a goal for the fourth time this season. It was the first time Maryland had ever shut out the Red Storm. The Red Storm end the season with a 12-6-4 record.
  • The Red Storm still lead the all-time series with Maryland, 3-2.
