HARRISONBURG, Va. -
Kristen McCurdy finished fifth overall to spark Maryland to a second-place finish Sunday at the Bonnie Hoover Invitational women's golf tournament hosted by James Madison University.
McCurdy, a Terrapin junior, posted rounds of 72-77-76 for a 9-over-par total of 225 and her best individual finish of the year. Her opening round 72 on Saturday was even par on the Lakeview Golf Club layout.
Maryland senior Marie Harper tied for 12th individually at 228 after shooting a 78 on Sunday, while freshman Jessica Reno closed with a 75 to post a 231 total and tie for 17th, giving the Terps three players in the top 20 individually.
As a team, Maryland had rounds of 301-308-306 for a 915 total, matching their best 54-hole team total of the year. The Terps were bested only by host James Madison, which opened with a 289 and cruised to an 894 team score. Maryland also finished second in this tournament a year ago.
Also for the Terrapins, Kate Stepanek tied for 23rd at 233, finishing with a 77 on Sunday and Katie Redeker was tied for 52nd at 241.
James Madison senior Jayme Langford went wire-to-wire for medalist honors, opening with a 2-under-par 70 and finishing three rounds at 3-over 219. Teammate Carol Green was second, two shots back.
Maryland next plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships next weekend in Clemmons, N.C.
