COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Terp alums Abe Thompson and Noah Palmer were recently selected in the MLS Supplemental Draft. Thompson was taken with the 16th pick by FC Dallas, while Palmer was drafted 25th by the expansion team Real Salt Lake.
The four-round draft was completed with the clubs selecting from a pool of eligible players mostly made up of talent not taken in January's MLS SuperDraft.
The University of Maryland was one of four schools to have two players taken in the Supplemental Draft.
Thompson and Palmer join Domenic Mediate in heading from this year's squad to the MLS.
Thompson is Maryland's all-time leader in points, scoring 112 (43g, 26a) during his career. Palmer etched his name as one of the best to every play goal for the Terps, setting the career shutout with 34. He set the single season record for GAA, allowing just 0.56 in 2003.
