COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Gymnastics edged George Washington Wednesday night 192.725-191.725. The Terps improve to 9-7 on the season and 3-2 in the EAGL Conference.

The Terps started off strong in vault, scoring a 48.525. Rachel Martinez finished first overall, scoring a 9.80. Lindsey Bonomo notched a 9.725 for third overall. Marisa St.Louis added a 9.70 (fourth overall) to give Maryland the lead heading into the second rotation.

Although Maryland did not have its best performance on uneven bars, it was enough to keep the lead after the second rotation. Rachel Martinez and Rachel Colon tied for first overall, scoring a 9.675. Alexandria Gatch added a 9.600 for third place in the meet. The Terps scored 47.850 on the event.

Martinez led the Terps on balance beam, scoring a 9.675, finishing in first-place. Gatch and Angie Ferg added solid performances, scoring a 9.675 to tie for second in the meet. Maryland scored 47.675 on the event. Despite having to count a fall, the Terps remained in the lead heading into the final rotation (144.050-143.900).

Maryland saved its best event for last as Martinez scored a 9.850 and Ginny Scott turned in a 9.80 to finish 1-2 on floor exercise. Leah Brill notched a 9.725 to solidify the victory for the Terps. Maryland scored a 48.675 on floor and Martinez took the all-around title, scoring 39.0.

The Terps will travel to George Washington for a rematch, March 2 at 7 p.m.
