TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Lindsay Klein's RBI single to right field broke a tenth inning tie and gave the University of Maryland softball team a 3-2 victory over Georgia State Friday afternoon at the Florida State Invitational. Terp pitcher Abbey Welch earned her team-high fourth win of the season after pitching four innings and giving up just one hit.

Lauren Pollock gave the Terrapins a one-run lead in the bottom of the second inning with her first home run of the year (fifth of her career), a solo shot over the left field fence. Pollock finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate.

Georgia State evened the score at one run apiece in the top of the third inning, capitalizing on two Maryland fielding errors and tallying two hits.

From there, the score remained tied through nine innings. In the top of the tenth, Georgia State's Mary Kathryn Branan hit an RBI single up the middle to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.

In Maryland's half of the tenth inning, Crystal Tweedy singled to third base with a bunt after Natalie Grossman was placed on second base due to tie-breaker rules. The next batter, Jenny Belak, laid down a sacrifice bunt and Grossman scored the tying run on a Panther throwing error.

With the score tied and the bases loaded, Klein hit a single to right field, scoring Tweedy and winning the game for the Terrapins.

The Terrapins improved to 5-6 on the year while Georgia State fell to 9-14.
