PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Maryland volleyball team came away with a 3-2 (30-21, 27-30, 30-22, 25-30, 28-26) victory over Miami University Saturday at the Pitt Invitational. The Terps also won their second match of the day against American, 3-0, remained undefeated and improved to 6-0 on the season. Rachel Wagener led all players with 19 kills and Stephanie Doiron set a career-high with 29 digs.

The Terps hit .196 in the first game, but that was enough to best Miami's attack percentage of -.043 and they took the game by a score of 30-21. The RedHawks came back in game two with a 30-27 victory before the Terps dominated again in game three with a 30-22 win. Miami tied the match at two games apiece with a 30-25 third-game victory to force a decisive fifth game.

In that game, Maryland out-hit Miami .326-190 and managed a 28-26 victory for the win.

Also in double figures for kills was Beth Gillming, who had a double-double with 17 kills and 21 digs.

Stephanie Smith had 11 kills and eight blocks, while Maggie Schmelzle also had a double-double with 10 kills and 19 digs.

Wagener contributed nine blocks to the Terps' effort, helping them out-block the RedHawks 20-10.5.

Miami was led by Carli Reihman, who recorded 18 kills and 14 digs.

In the second match, Maryland swept local rival American to clinch the Pitt Invitational title.
