COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The top-ranked Maryland men's soccer team will host its first match of the 2006 season when it welcomes Binghamton to Ludwig Field on Sunday, August 27. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. for the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Maryland is coming off of a 2-0 shutout of No. 23 Old Dominion on Friday night in Norfolk, Va.
Last Time Out
• Maryland opened the season with a 2-0 victory at Old Dominion on Friday night. Graham Zusi got a quick start to his campaign when he intercepted a bad pass in front of the box and put a shot in the back of the net in the third minute.
• Stephen King netted the second goal for the Terps in the 42nd minute. After he was taken down in the box, King converted on a penalty kick to give Maryland the 2-0 advantage.
• Chris Seitz faced 11 shots and made four saves in the win to improve his career record to 14-1-2.
• An ODU Soccer Stadium attendance record was set on Friday night as 3,331 spectators came out to watch the Monarchs try to take down the nation's top-ranked team.
About The Game
• The top-ranked Terps play host for the first time in 2006 when Binghamton comes to Ludwig Field on August 27 at 7:00 p.m.
• It is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
• Maryland is 7-3-1 all-time in home openers at Ludwig and have not lost in its home lid lifter since 2001.
Scouting The Bearcats
• Binghamton began the 2006 schedule with a 1-1 draw at home against Bucknell on Friday night.
• Matt Narode put Binghamton up first 31:44 into the game when he took a cross from sophomore midfielder Cody Germain into the back of the net. The Bison responded with the equalizer about six minutes later.
• The Bearcats were picked fourth in this year's preseason America East poll after finishing 12-4-5 in 2005 and advancing to its third consecutive conference final.
• Binghamton lost the services of Graham Munro who was named third-team All-America by College Soccer News a year ago after finishing the season with five goals.
Binghamton is the first of three-straight home games for the Terps. On Friday, September 1, Maryland hosts No. 10 UCLA at 8:00 p.m. following the women's game. Both matches will be televised by CSTV. BIG EAST foe Louisville will then visit College Park on Monday, September 4 for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
