The University of Maryland (4-2) takes on the Illinois Fighting Illini (4-1) Wednesday (November 28) at Comcast Center as part of the 2007 Big 10/ACC Challenge. Tipoff between the Terps and Illini is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
Wednesday's game marks the seventh meeting between the two schools. Maryland holds a 4-2 lead in the all-time series.
Maryland captured a 72-66 win over Illinois last season in Champaign. The win snapped the Illini's 51-game home winning streak over non-conference opponents.
Last year's game between Maryland and Illinois earned the third-highest television rating among Big 10/ACC Challenge games.
The Terps are 5-3 all-time in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge dating back to its inception in 1999-2000.
Maryland is 3-0 at home, 1-1 on the road and 1-2 at neutral sites.
The Terps have played in seven different venues in the Challenge, including the Comcast Center, Cole Field House, Assembly Hall, Bradley Arena, Conseco Fieldhouse, Baltimore Arena and Kohl Center.

Four Terrapins scored in double figures as Maryland downed Lehigh,
72-51 Friday (November 23) afternoon. Sophomore Greivis Vasquez scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. He added two assists and two steals in 35 minutes against the Mountain Hawks.
Sophomore Braxton Dupree made his first career start in place of Bambale Osby and scored 14 points. Dupree was 5 of 9 from the floor and connected on 4 of 7 free throw attempts. He added five rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
Senior James Gist and sophomore Eric Hayes each added 11 points for the Terps.
Maryland finished the game 28-for-55 (.509) from the field against the Mountain Hawks and limited Lehigh to just 33 percent shooting (18 of 55).
The Terrapins held Lehigh scoreless during a seven-minute stretch during the second half. Maryland was able to extend its lead from 43-38 to 58-38 during the run.
Maryland head coach Gary Williams is tied as the sixth-winningest active head coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball with an overall record of 589-330 (.641). He ranks second among active ACC coaches with 382 wins at Maryland (3rd overall) and also ranks second among active league coaches with 157 ACC victories. Williams is the Terps' all-time winningest coach.
Williams is just 11 wins shy of 600 career victories. Only five active head coaches in Division I have 600 career wins.
Three of Maryland's five starters are among the top 13 players in the ACC for minutes played per contest. Senior Greivis Vasquez is second in the league, averaging 36.83 minutes per contest.
Sophomore guard Eric Hayes is fifth in the ACC in minutes per game (35.50), while senior James Gist is 13th (32.60).
Former Maryland head coach Lefty Driesell was one of eight
honorees who were inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame November 18.
Driesell compiled an overall record of 348-159 as head coach of the Terrapins from 1969-1986.
Over 41 seasons as a head coach, he guided four different teams (Davidson, Maryland, James Madison and Georgia State) to 786 victories.

Sophomore guard Eric Hayes has built on an impressive freshman season and has continued his development for the Terrapins:
Hayes has scored in double figures in four of Maryland's six games this season.
He leads the team with 31 assists and is second on the squad with seven steals.
Hayes tallied a career-high 15 points against North Florida in the season opener and posted a personal-best seven rebounds against Missouri.
He leads the team from the free throw line, shooting 83 percent (15 of 18).
Sophomore guard Greivis Vasquez enjoyed a breakout season as a freshman in 2006-07 and has improved in 2007-08:
Vasquez averages a team-high 17.7 points per game. As a freshman he scored 9.8 points per game.
He has topped his career high twice this season. He set a new career high with 21 points against Hampton before scoring 22 against Lehigh. He has scored in double digits in five of six games this year.
Vasquez is second on the team with 30 assists.
He has improved his rebounding from 3.3 per game as a freshman to 5.5 this season.
Vasquez is averaging a team-high 36.8 minutes per game.
Vasquez spent the summer as a member of the Venezuelan National team which competed in the FIBA Americas Championships in Las Vegas during August.
